Admission Policy

We welcome applications for places at Higham on the Hill CE Primary and visits from parents and pupils.

 

Applications and visits are welcomed and can be organised at any time of the year.

We are an academy within the Rise Multi-Academy Trust. Admissions are coordinated by both the Local Authority (LA) and school, but within RISE, Directors are the Admissions Authority (including mid year transfers). Responsibility for the operation of this policy is delegated to the Local Governing Body of the academy, who allocate places according to our Admissions policy. 

First time admissions into school

  • Please see our Admissions Policy for your child's year of admission.
  • Please apply online to Leicestershire County Council LA here or contact 0116 305 6684 if you need a paper form.
  • LA letters are sent out on 16th April informing of the outcome of your school application.

 

MID-TERM (IN-YEAR) ADMISSIONS ARRANGEMENTS 2024-25 ACADEMIC YEAR

 

If you are thinking of moving your child(ren) to our school, in the first instance, please contact the school to arrange a visit via 01455 212294 or office@higham.risemat.co.uk to enquire if we have places available in the relevant year group(s).  We will offer you a tour of the school with a representative from our leadership team.

You will be notified of the admission decision within 10-school days.  If applicable, you will also be notified of the appeal procedure.

Appeals Process

 

Our appeals are managed by Leicester Diocesan Board of Education.  All appeals should be made in writing on the relevant form.  Appeals forms are available from the DBE website: https://www.leicesterdbe.org/schools/admissions-and-appeals/ and should be sent via email to officedbe@leicesterdbe.org or posted to Leicester Diocesan Board of Education, St. Martins House, 7 Peacock Lane, Leicester, LE1 5PZ.

For first time admissions in September 2024, appeals must be made by 18th May 2024.  Appeals will be heard during the summer term, within 40 schools days of this date.

 

Any late applications appeals lodged after this deadline, will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

 

Any mid-year transfer appeals will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

 

In all cases, appellants will receive at least 10 days' written notice of the appeal hearing. They may submit additional evidence in writing by 12 noon the day before the hearing. Decision letters are sent to the school, RISE  and appellant within 5 days of the hearing.
