Welcome to our wonderful, village school- Mrs Rebecca Dolby-Molson, Executive Headteacher
We are a small, rural, village primary school in the heart of England. With only four classes, we are able to create a very warm and happy environment for everyone who learns, works and plays here. Our staff to pupil ratio is excellent and our class sizes are small, often fewer than 25 in each. The class teachers are supported by learning support assistants and qualified nursery nurses in Class 1.
Our facilities are wide ranging. We have an on site breakfast club every morning, where the children are provided with breakfast and a range of activities. Parents and carers can drop their child off at breakfast club any time after 8am for a small charge. At 8.45am the children are taken onto the playground. We also run an after school care club daily from 3.15-5pm, bookable in advance. Every term a variety of clubs run after school hours, including Children's Church, chess, cross country and football. At lunchtime the children can be involved in gardening, choir or sports activities.
We are blessed with extensive school grounds, including a large playground, trim trail, large playing field and a pond area. These grounds are used regularly as the school has an outdoor learning focus. Our curriculum is exciting and engaging, with topics being enhanced by local walks, external trips and visitors to school. From year 4, children learn to play a musical instrument, receiving tuition from a specialist teacher who visits each week. A modern foreign language is taught to children in year 4,5&6. Children from year 2-6 swim at Hinckley Leisure Centre during the Autumn and Spring term and Year 6 children learn to sail at Bosworth Water Park. We successfully compete in small schools sporting events throughout the year, including cross-country, a swimming gala, football and netball tournaments and tag rugby festivals.
As a Church of England (controlled) primary school, we have extensive links with St. Peter's Church, visiting often and welcoming clergy into school. At St. Peters, we hold Harvest, Christingle, Easter and Y6 Leavers services over the year.
We welcome visits to our school. Please contact Mrs Paula Collet or Mrs Sara Felstead in our school office.
